You know 5G is almost here by the number of announcements on engineering products, collaborations, and market reports.

Over the last few weeks, a consistent stream of 5G-related announcements have come in. Test products, collaborations, and market reports show that 5G is getting closer to reality.

One way to be sure that a technology is ramping up is by announcements relating to production. Marvin Test Systems has developed a production tester that integrates a Rohde & Schwarz 24-port vector network analyzer for testing 5G New radio ICs. On August 2, Keysight Technologies held its Keysight World Singapore conference where it highlighted the M9384B VXG Microwave Signal Generator.

Keysight has announced that its 5G network emulation conformance test platform (TP168) supports numerous 5G new radio (NR) conformance radio frequency (RF) test cases validated by the Global Certification Forum. The coverage includes industry-first GCF validation for 5G NR radio conformance testing in frequency range 2 (FR2), which is mmWave frequencies. The company claims its network emulation solutions can comprehensively address 3GPP requirements specific to 5G NR mmWave deployments.
