TSMC Doubles 16nm Capacity; Recruits In USA.

As TSMC starts to cope with a doubling of 16nm capacity this month it seems it has run out of home-grown talent and is looking to the USA for recruits.

This month it starts to ramp another 40k wpm of 16nm finfet capacity on top of the 40k wpm it already has in production.

This seems to be putting a strain on the supply of home-grown talent because, in a swing through the top tech colleges in America, TSMC is looking to fill a large number of pretty important positions.

It is being said that the TSMC capacity increase is because the company has won all the business for the Apple A10 processor which is needed for the next iPhone, iPhone 7, due to be launched in September.

So the ramp starts now.
