IoT - Hard encryption is better than soft

As PC users we are well aware that internet-connected hardware is inherently at risk to malware and hackers.

So with the introduction of the first so-called internet of things (IoT) devices, suppliers are addressing system security even at the component level.

An example is Toshiba?s latest TX04 Arm Cortex-M4F microcontroller which has its own true random number generator.

This hardware-based AES encryption/decryption function is designed to meet FIPS180-4 and FIPS197 standards.

As a rule of thumb, hardware-based cryptographic key storage and cryptographic countermeasures which are more secure than software-based key storage.
